Although often not emphasized, mathematics is a discipline based on
creativity. It is thanks to this creativity that mathematicians derive
models and formulas that allow them to describe and ultimately
understand nature. In his talk, Alessio Figalli will show the beauty
and importance of mathematics, and he will describe the theory of
optimal transport and its relation to the study of crystals and
clouds.
