Automorphisms of projective algebraic varieties

Abstract: In this talk, we will first present classical results on automorphism groups of projective algebraic curves (or compact Riemann surfaces). Then we will discuss the structure of automorphism groups of general projective varieties. The "connected" part of these groups is rather well-understood, but very little is known about their "discrete" part.
